It isn't always pink. I have a habit of propping on my left arm, chin on hand, while working at my desk. My arm pushes that breast in/ up.
I'm having loads of anxiety since colon cancer and then the cancer spreading to a small spot in my liver after 38 months. Had an open liver resection in April and now have no sign of cancer. No chemo after resection.
Actually, I've had 4 chest X-rays, a CT scan, PET/CT scan and ultra sounds of internal organs all since mid March. I go next week for another PET/CT to document what my newly regenerated liver looks like.
With the anxiety, I have become a horrible hypochondriac. My areola have faded almost entirely to skin tone (very pale skinned) and my breasts now sag. Chemo (ended 2009) completes the menopause experience very quickly. I refuse to take any hormone replacement therapy.
I appreciate your concern. I'm sure I'm over reacting. Menopause can cause blotchy areola, changes in size, etc. Since I have zero other symptoms, this is probably just one area of skin fading slower than the other areas.
Could be that this thin pink part of the areola will eventually change color too.
I really don't know what to tell you, except that it's best to let your doctor take a look at it and see if further investigation is needed.
Take care...
Rim is not a good word but it's hard to explain. It's just the very last bit of areola in that one spot has not lost color like the rest has.
Hi,
I think that the best thing for you to do is to have this "pink rim"checked out by your doctor or a dermatologist for evaluation.
This could be an allergy or a skin condition of some sort,or maybe an inflamed vein. However without a professional opinion we can only guess, but we can't be sure of what this could be.
Please consult your doctor, just to be on the safe side and for your peace of mind.
Wishing you all the best...
Sending my prayers, good thoughts, and wishing you the best of luck!
