Post breast biopsy complications

Post breast biopsy complications

I had an "incision" biopsy for a suspicious lump.  Thankfully, it was not malignant, but evidently not all blood vessels closed, and my breast filled with blood.  The incision also became infected.  It is now more than 5 weeks later, and I have a lump the size of an egg that is very firm.  The surgeon said it's a blood clot and will dissolve, but it seems as large as the first week, and I continue to feel very tired, slightly nauseous and occasionally a bit feverish.
Besides checking in regularly, is there something that might speed the healing process?
I wonder if I should worry about this mass deterioriating, especially since I continue to feel like I'm fighting something.
Oh, I'm 53, on HRT, and tend to have more problems than normal with meds, procedures, etc. (my entire body broke out in hives after an earlier procedure, never figured out the cause), so I'm not really anxious to "do something" even though I'm worried.
Thanks,
Anne

Dear Anne,
A blood clot can take quite a while to be reabsorbed by the body, this process could take a couple of months.  Try not to aggravate the area too much for instance with tight clothing, or touching it a lot, you could cause some further bleeding, or irritation at the site.  If you notice the area becoming increasingly reddened, painful or you have a fever above 101
