Pregnancy after Breast Cancer

Hello
I have went through a Mascetomy and Chemo at the age of 32. Made it through 48 treatments of Herception, which was suppose to be a year. Had a 16% decline in my heart fuction, according to my Muga Scans. I have been on Arimidex along with Lupron shots for almost 2 years now. It is suppose to be a 5 year plan. Now that I am 34, I am starting to worry about ever having a family. That these drugs have been shutting down my ovaries for so long, it may become permident. There really is no information on what kind of comes can occur. I have been thinking about stopping these treatments. Any kind of information would be greaty appreciated.

Dear Doreen789, It is generally recommended that pregnancy be delayed 2 to 3 years after adjuvant treatment for breast cancer is completed.  The delay is not because of the influence of the pregnancy on the cancer, but rather to delay childbearing until after the time of greatest risk of recurrence of the tumor.   The decision about discontinuation of the arimidex/lupron treatments in order to attempt pregnancy should be done with input from your oncologist who can discuss with you the risks etc. for your particular situation.
