Prognosis

I am 47 years old and have invasive ductal carcinoma with lobular features. I have five multifocal areas in the left breast with the biggest tumor measuring 2.5 cm. After a lymph node dissection, the doctor reported 16 out of 25 lymph nodes malignant. He said I have a 10% chance of survival without chemo and 40-50% with chemo and possibly 10% more with radiation and estrogen suppression. Of course, I will do all of that. I am waiting on the PET Scan results and should have them tomorrow. My question is What else does anyone know about this type of cancer and prognosis. Diet and nutrition advice that works without going too extreme? Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear of your current situation but it sounds like you have a very good Oncologist and your treatment plan is pretty well formulated. The prognosis of course really can't be estimated in your particular case quite yet; it will depend a lot on whether or not there has been metastisis to any other organ or part of the body. As far as diet,etc.--- a healthy diet and lifestyle will be of some advantage in giving your body the ultimate strength to fight this disease. A positive attitude helps also and stay involved in every aspect of your treatment.  Kindest regards .....
