Question about nipple discharge

Question about nipple discharge

I had a son 14 months ago. Breast milk did come in, but it favored the left side more than the right.
Fast forward to present.
I was doing a self breast exam and did not find any lumps on either breast but when the left breast was squeezed white milky fluid came out of the left nipple. It only came out of one pore as well. This is the first time I have ever noticed this and it doesn't not happen on its own, just when squeezed. The right breast does nothing.
Is this normal for it to be out of one pore?
I have an appointment shceduled for the 8th of April just in case.

The same thing happen to me only out of my left breast and only out of one pore. I have  my appointment on the 25th so I will let you know what they tell me. I have done some self breast exams and if I'm doing them right I don't feel anything out of the ordinary. I too take medications ( prozac ). So I will keep in touch with you on this...

Hi,

You should not worry about the nipple discharge too much. It is alright if it is coming from one breast only and not both.

A nipple discharge is significant and needs to be investigated further if it -
- is persistent,
- comes out without squeezing the breasts or any stimulation,
- is bloody or foul smelling or altered,
- is associated with a lump, nipple or skin changes etc.

This is most probably as your physician tells you due to the clogged milk ducts.

What is your age? Have you noticed any abnormal features on breast self examination like a breast lump, nipple discharge , skin changes etc?

You could consult your doctor for a clinical breast examination to clear out any doubts that you have.

Do let us know if you have any more doubts and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

I'm 23, and have never noticed any previous problems. There hasn't been skin changes, lumps, or any other discharge before. Breast cancer is not in my family history either.

Hi,

Breast discharge after squeezing the breasts or after a breast self examination is normal and can be seen in many females.

You should relax and not worry about this too much.

If the discharge persists or shows any of the above mentioned features you should consult your doctor.

Let us know how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
