by Holmes, Feb 16, 2003 12:00AM
I had some intermittent discomfort ribs 8-9 on my affected right side last Nov - no pain since before Christmas. A recent bone scan showed isolated "increased uptake" in this same area. CT scan - negative. Significant? Where to go from here. Invasive breast cancer 1999 with lumpectomy and 16 positive nodes. High dose/high densitiy chemo followed by six weeks of radiation. Thqnk you

Dear Holmes, The increased uptake may be from surgery or radiation, remote fracture, or a site of metastasis.  Ask your doctor to interpret for you the bone scan results with regard to the specifics of your physical exam, surgery, radiation and the ct scan results.
