Radiation sore chest

Radiation sore chest

I received a total of 33 radiations.  The last one was last Friday (Jan. 24)

My question is:  How long does it take for my chest to get over this, and get well?  I did real well until about the last one and a half weeks of the treatments.  Then my chest started to get red in places,  and a couple of places got sore. Then almost the whole radiation surface got really red.   Two days ago I awakened with two large blisters (larger than a quarter) on the chest.   They have not broken yet so the fluid is still in them, but they may accidently get broken by the rubbing of my clothes, etc.

I also have a place under my arm pit where the scar ends (after taking nodes out) that is seeping .  Is this normal? Will it stop soon?

Dear seven7, The skin reaction to the radiation will take some time to heal, like any kind of burn to the skin.  Keeping the area clean and dry, letting the blister break on its own, and watch for signs of infection, fever, foul smelling drainage etc.  Make sure your radiation therapist or surgeon is aware of the drainage from the scar and makes an assessment of it, especially if this is new.  Was the scar within the radiation field?  If so this might be also irritated from the radiation, but make sure your health care team is aware.
