Radiation to same breast that was radiated 2 years ago

I had DCIS near the nipple 2 years ago and underwent XRT to 5000 cGy.  I now had a mammogram and they found numerous microcalcifications again in a different area of the breast UOQ.  Can my breast be reirradiated.

This discussion is related to Radiation therapy only for DCIS.

Hi,
In general, it's not possible to treat a breast which has had prior radiation with additional radiation: tissues can tolerate only so much radiation, and usually initial treatment gives the maximum dose.
Please discuss with your doctor what other option you might have in your situation if  breast treatment is needed.
Best wishes...

No. Radiation can only be done once in a lifetime on the same area is what my radiology oncologist told me.
