Recent Diagnostic Mammogram Changes?

Hi, I'm new to the site & forum. Last 5/11/08 I finally had significant changes to my Mammogram (I've been having 6 mo. observation done for 2 yrs.) It appears in the Left Breast behind nipple area. It has now grown to half dozen what appear to be 'calcification'? I'm not sure. I have fibrocystic breasts & they are what Dr. refered to as 'Pancake' *sigh* I wear a sz.32 A, mostly for vanity. He stated that there was only a 5% chance of it being Cancer. Maybe I should wait 'another' 6 months to see if it changes 'again'. Should I?

My only reasons for hesitation are listed:
Still recovering from Thyroidectomy & Vocal Surgery on 03/13/08. Med's still not regulated & am still very tired & weak.
OBGYN states that due to the 'smallness' of my breast- Only Surgical Out-Patient removal is an option.

My confussion too is in his fippant attitude to a situation that has been 'monitored' for changes this long. He stated that 'if' it is Cancer- it is a slow 'growing' one with a 90% cure rate. Am I supposed to be relieved? Or paniced?

We are always entitled to a second opinion if we aren't comfortable with the first; and obviously you aren't. If you aren't comfortable with the 6 month wait how about an appointment with a Surgeon (breast specialist if possible).... trust me, the OB/GYN won't be doing any surgery you might require concerning you breast problem. If you do made an appointment with a Surgeon, take your films (all of them) with you for him/her to evaluate.

sorry, the Breast Specialist is who seems so undecided. OBGYN states she is totally confident in his decision. Breast Spec. states 'if' its Cancer- its slow moving with 90% cure rate. And that theres in his opionion, only a 5% chance that it is Cancer.

I hope I'm a good gambler.

Sounds like pretty good odds to me and I hope you're a good gambler too. Best of Luck ......
