Reconstruction and low WBC

I am due to have a TRAM flap reconstruction next Friday.  My white cell count is 3.4.  As it's a holiday today, there's no-one I can ask.  Is this likely to be too low to have the operation?

Dear missmealie:  A white blood cell count of 3.4 may or may not be significant.  The level would need to be evaluated in the context of the normal range for that laboratory.  If the level is close to normal and the neutrophil count is okay (your doctor will check this if there is reason to be concerned), it is unlikely that surgery will need to be cancelled.  Ultimately, however, this decision would be made by the surgeon (in communication with the oncologist, if needed) in the context of your situation.
