Reconstruction during Mastectomy

by Sophie1, Dec 20, 2005 12:00AM
My wife underwent breast reconstruction during her mastectomy operation. She was one of a 5 person trial. She has come through ok and is now on her 4/6 AC chemo. The other 4 were on radiotherapy and infection has set in. What are the medical thoughts on reconstruction. She is having the final reconstruction + a slight adjustment to the other breast March 2006 all under health insurance.

Dear sophie1:  I'm not certain what you are asking but in general, the medical community feels that reconstruction is an acceptable choice in most situations.  Whether it is best for your wife depends on discussions with the oncologist, the plastic surgeon and her.
