Hey There,
I had my second mammo on Monday and am scheduled for a needle biopsy next wednesday. I have microcalcs in the "indeterminent" catagory. Wish I'd known to ask what the BRAD rating was then but I do now. Did you get yours? I had a lipomaLipoma - arm removed a few years back and asked to have it removed outright. Wasn't an issue but in your situation I'd say don't agree to the needle biopsy. Consent means we have options, don't give yours if you have concerns. MV
Call around. Find a doctor who would consider this. It may have to do with insurance also. Are you seeing a breast specialist (surgeon)? I would call a specialist about your request.
Thank you both for responding, Ravenlady; what is Brad Rating? I do not know it and never heard of this before...but being new on the scene I'm sure I'm going to learn more.
bonincyde; yes it does have to do with $$$, you see when I went to see my Doctor it was my lucky day, it being "Womens Cancer Awareness Month" she signed me up for free Pap Smears and mammograms forever. Well the lab that is doing the mammos, is paying for all treatment even if cancer is found, then they pay for the first year. Well my husband says doesn't matter, we will pay if need be so they do it first go around. Even so, I would think it wouldn't be a problem, My Doctor agrees with me so hopefully she will find a surgeon who will do it first go around.
Anything else I should be asking? any help I would appreciate.
Hello again Lalarisso,
I am new too and just learning the lingo. Check out my thread below called "New Vocabulary" as well as TC66's thread "BIRAD 4 subclassifications". The BIRAD is used by radiologist to catagorize Mammo, MRI or US results. It helps the Physician determine the next step whether that be simple follow-up or biopsy. Hang in there! MV
Knowledge is powerful and will get you through this. Have the biopsy and do lots of research. Go to the breastcancer.org and join the discussion board there. Lots of ladies there who have been where you are. Also visit The American Cancer Society site. And of course keep us posted here. You can always post a question to the doctor here on the breast cancer forum above. We only get two a day so early morning is the best time to post. You will be fine. I wish you well.
