I have been diagnosed as having Sclerosing Adenosis found on one of my many final check ups following all my Surgeries. Can I ask what risk does this condtion pose in the future what will follow ups include I am due to be seen in six months time.

Hi there.

I believe that your situation would warrant genetic testing for cancer causing genes, such as that of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.

Any previous history of ovarian cancer can indeed increase your risk of having breast cancer in the future.  If you are tested positive for any of these two genes, you may discuss with your doctors regarding risk reduction strategies.  This would include intake of medications such as tamoxifen or raloxifene.  Risk reduction can also be accomplished through surgical bilateral mastectomy.

Regards.
