SCAR TISSUE QUESTION PLEASE

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF SCAR TISSUE CAN DEVEOP SEVERAL YEARS AFTER SURGERY?  MY ONC SAID SHE DOUBTS IT, AS I HAD MY SURGERY 4 YEARS AGO. SOMETHING IS SHOWN ON MY CT NEAR THE AXILLARY AREA.

Dear Jaynie:  Most of the time, scar tissue develops during the healing process and will eventually become less noticable.  There are occassions when scar tissue may grow.  Nonetheless, if something is visible on your CT scan, it probably warrants further investigation to be certain it is nothing to be concerned about.

Evidently your Oncologist doesn't think so and I can't imagine scar tissue developing all of a sudden after 4 yrs. Sure the CT scan was read by a Radiologist and your Oncologist would have received the report. I would follow what ever recommendations were made by those two physicians. If they aren't answering your questions; call your surgeon's office and have the report sent there. Best of Luck.
