SWELLING ON AREOLA AND SMALL INDENT THAT COMES AND GOES..

I am 30 yr healthy and I am pregnant..I have had for the last 2 months a worm like swelling on my areola that kind of circles my nipple..it is very obvious when I pull my nipple taunt but it comes and goes through out the day..it is soft and distends but I can't tell if it's a vein or what ..recently I also noticed I have a small indent on my areola that also is seen when I pull my nipple taunt..this also comes and goes..do these symptoms sound concerning? I have mentioned it to my ob/gyn on 2 occasions and he wasn't concerned..could this be a distended duct? my doctor said no, because a duct would not come and go..

Dear joi:  There are many changes that occur during pregnancy that may change the appearance of the areola or breast.  Since your doctor has seen this and is not concerned, it sounds benign.  Anything that comes and goes is unlikely to be cancer.
