Scar from Stereotactic

by Marjorie L., Aug 18, 2002 12:00AM
I had a stereotactic biopsy the end of February.  I was told there would be no scar.  However, I seem to have one.  The site is raised, hard and red, like scar tissue.  Is that what this is?  Will it ever improve?  I had a lot of bleeding when they did the biopsy.  Could that have affected scar formation?  My breasts are smallish, so it is noticeable.

Dear Marjorie L:  From what you describe, it sounds as though you have a small scar.  I am assuming that the results of the biopsy were negative.  Most folks do not have a scar from this procedure but some people are more prone to scar tissue than others.  If this is a scar, it very well could imprve over time.  Most scars take months to years to reach their final appearance.  However, just to be sure, you should have the surgeon take a look to be sure that this is what it is.
