My gyno's order for biopsy if needed at time of my call back never specified testing for ER/PR or 2 her so I won't know that until after my lumpectomy pathology. Diagnosed with IDC right breast through Core Needle, stage 1, 1 centimeter. Met with breast surgeon and she did another US and said it looked to be almost 1.5 centimeter, but that it could get a bit larger after being biopsied. (Is that true?). Then had a breast MRI that showed nothing else but the above and that nodes looked good. Lumpectomy is scheduled for 3/25 and she said she would be putting a wire guided by US into the nodule and then I would be put out and while out she would be injecting blue dye to test the Sentinal node and nodes to be certain nothing was in them. Does this sound like ususal procedure? She said I would be out when she did the dye. I don't understand why the wire must be placed, as I thought that was used during wire guided biopsy only and this is my lumpectomy. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I trust my surgeon, she has been terrific so far, and the Breast Surgery Center she is involved with has a long waiting list and came highly recommended. Thank you.
