Severe breast pain, still undiagnosed

Hi, I am 29 years old and have been suffering from severe breast pains for years now. I had a mammagram years ago, yet nothing was detected. I since then had a child, and have still been lactating, even though I never breast fed, going on 3 and a half years now. I do have noticle lumps in both breasts, lots of pain radiating from the nipple, and pain behind it, I even feel lumps directly behind the nipples that hurt so much, as well as a few away from the nipples.. I also have breast implants which now I have had for 10 years now. I have a mammagram scheduled next week. I was wondering if an ultrasound or even an mri would be able to detect something more? I am seriously thinking of having the implants removed too.

I take pain medication for my DDD in my neck and arthritis. Even though prescription medication takes the neck pain away, I still feel pain in my breasts?? I don't get it.  Can someone please give me some thoughts on this? I cannot take it anymore. It's so bad, I will cry in pain from the breast pain on many occasions. Thank you.

Hi,

Glad the post was of help to you.

You should follow up with your breast surgeon regularly and decide about the further plan of management. It is also good that the findings are benign in your case.

Let us now about what your specialist advises nad do post us if you have any doubts.

Regards.

Thank you for your response, I greatly appreciate it. I went to the breast care center at my hospital, and had the diagnostic mammogram an an ultrasound. 5 lumps were found. I told them everything they needed to know, about the discolored discharge to the pain behind both nipples. To the other lumps that were found throught both breasts. At this time, On paper it is recorded as a "bening finding." Until further testing.

It won't be till my next primary care doctor's appointment, that they will determain further yesting. The nurses assured me that there will be further testing, and the nurses were wonderful. I am glad they finally foind this, I am getting closer to knowing the truth.

It's been hellish this experience, but I know there is something very wrong, and I want to do these tests, no matter how painful they may be, it is not nearly as painful as my breasts. I have also done some research on Paget's disease of the breast. It is exactly to the T, of the nipple pain. Behind each of my nipples are as hard as bb's and shaped like them, and hardness where most of my breast pain radiates from. This is something I will bring up to the doctor. But I still have, like I mentioned, other lump masses, big and hard, throught both breasts.

I have not been feeling well lately. I have been very nauseated, weak,in lots of bone and joint pain, due probably to my arthritis, but, it has been more intensified. I keep having this feeling that I should go to the emergency room. It's an inner voice telling me to go NOW! I don't want to seem paranoid, but sometimes, being a little paranoid at times has saved my life. So, I have packed up my belongings in a small bad and will be going to the emergency room tomorrow morning.

Thank you doctor, for heling me thru this. I agree with what you said in your response. And if I need to, I will gladly have my implants removed. I know they are adding to the problem and the pain. I will keep updating this painful ordeal, maybe someone can learn from my trials. I need to go with my gut on this, I know it serious, but I am ready to know whatever news the doctors have for me.

Thank you so much, LMS

Hi,

From what you describe, the pain could be due to scar tissue from the implants or due to the lumps you have . These seem to be fibroadenoma most probably, but it would be best to get a physician consult and relevant investigations for a confirmed diagnosis.

You should get the mammogram done, depending on the repot your doctor would then decide whether an ultrasound or MRI is required.

When did you get the implants? Have you followed up with your surgeon after the implants?

You should continue with the pain relief medications and try some warm compresses and see if it helps.

Let us know about the mammogram report and also post us if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
