Sex Life after Bilateral Mastectomy & Hysterectomy

I had a bilateral mastectomy 18 months ago for estrogen receptor positive breast cancer and a hysterctomy 12 months ago.  I have gone through my breast reconstruction and I am finally starting to feel whole again.  I have always been very sexual - now I have absolutely no libido - even though mentally and emotionally I want to!  I know there are hormones other than estrogen that can help - like testosterone - etc.  I wonder if even low doses of some hormones could help me feel more sexual and have more energy.  I just feel like  "my fire was put out".  Can anybody share their experiences and what they were able to do to help withthis kind of complicated problem. I have asked my gyno and my oncologist and they just say - it's safer to take no hormones.....but I say - how about low doses to help improve the quality of my life.

They are correct and especially since your cancer was hormone receptor positive. If you received any other forms of treatment this could have something to do with the return of your libido; which by the way may never be the same as before.  I'm suggesting that you visit a discussion group where I know you will get some experiences from many women who have "been there".  If you post in the "meeting place for survivors" section you'll get some helpful feedback ..... a great bunch of women there.     (bcsupport.org)
