Should I be concerned

I had a wide local excision 28 September which came back as ADH and fibroadenomatous hyperplasia. In the last 2 weeks I have noticed an increase in size of the breast, pain, reddened area which is hot to touch, ridges in several areas of the breast and nipple starting to invert. I spoke to my specialist who has treated me for mastitis but after 10 days on antibiotics there is no change at all. It is now almost 6 weeks since the surgery, should I be worried and seek another opinion?

If this is mastitis it may take more than one course of antibiotics to solve the problem. If you get no further treatment or advice from your present Physician then I would seek another opinion. I wouldn't give up on him/her just yet if he/she has more to offer in the way of treatment.  Regards ...

It is now 11 weeks since my surgery, I have just completed a further two week course of antibiotics and symptoms have not resolved. The  breast size is even larger than before, there is thickening of the tissue and discoloration of the nipple. The specialist has referred me for an urgent ultrasound scan on Tuesday. Should I be getting worried about this.

I had my ultrasound today and a single view mammogram. The radiologist said that although there is definite thickening of the breast she believes it is related to the surgery as the axillary lymph nodes appear to be okay. She said to keep an eye on it until next mammogram in July and if symptoms worsen go back to specialist. Thanks for your input.
