Should I do chemo

I had invasive ductile carcinoma stage 1 grade 2.  It was 9mm they took 2 sentinal node and there wasn't any cancer in them plus the margins around it were clear too.  I did  have Savi brachytherpy and just finished with it yesterday.
The thing that looks poor is that it is Triple-Negative.  The oncologist said that if I do chemo  it would be 4 treatments three weeks apart.  He was talking about Cytoxan/Taxotere.  I am wondering if the good out weigh the bad with the side affects of chemo?

Just to let you know, I just finished 4 rounds of TC and it was very doable.  My only side effects were headache (Neulasta shot?) and constipation.  Felt bad for a couple of days each time but mostly did everything, walked, swam.  Had a metal taste in my mouth for a while too but it was annoying, not life threatening.  Good luck.

Dear Barb72646, Decisions about adjuvant chemotherapy treatment are based on several factors including size of tumor, status of lymph nodes, the appearance of the cancer under the microscope, the presence or absence of hormone receptors for estrogen and/or progesterone, as well as HER2 status, the general health of the patient etc.  Triple negative breast cancer means that ER and PR status are negative and that HER 2 neu status is also negative.  Chemotherapy is recommended based on the tumor and the risk/benefit ratio.   The risk of recurrence vs. risk related to side effects.  This risk benefit ratio for your individual situation is best discussed with your oncologist who can discuss them in context of your individual situation.   If you are concerned still have questions, a second opinion from a breast cancer oncologist is also a possible option for you.

Hello,

It's great that you would seek opinions online. In my honest opinion, you should really take what your doctor has to say seriously. This is because he has first-hand knowledge of your situation, and probably knows best. I would also recommend you to go to different doctors for different opinions and see what they have to say.

Always remember that the main objective is your health and well-being. Understand the risks and side-effects of chemo, and please make sure you're in suitable health before going for it.

Triple neg. cancer is one of the most aggressive cancers  and more likely to recur than any of the other types of cancer. A second opinion might be helpful to you if you are having serious doubts about the Chemo recommendation made by your Oncologist.  Regards ....
