Hello I am a 25 year old womanWomen's way and I am feeling some confusionConfusion Delirium. Two months ago I found very tender lumpLumps in the breasts in left breast. Breast ultrasound and mammogram results were normalNormal saline flush. The pain persisted as well as the lumpLumps in the breasts getting bigger and causing swellingAbdomen - swollen Ankle sprain swelling Breast - premenstrual tenderness and swelling Foot swelling Foot, leg, and ankle swelling Gums - swollen Joint swelling Mastoiditis - redness and swelling behind ear Scrotal swelling Swelling. Two weeks after testing my general physician found another lump 2-3 cm and also very tender. He recommended I see a surgeon, which I did go see. About a week before my appt I found another lump on other breast so painful as well. At this point my left breast is completely swollen and incredibly painful. The surgeon did a 2 minute examination and told me it was hormone related. No two breasts are alike and being a young women estrogen can cause many bodily changes. He also told me to discontinue my oral contraceptive I had been taking for about three weeks. So, here I am in incredible pain with lumps still multiplying and its normal?? Just wondering if anyone has experienced any symptoms like these? I have never had any problems like these and I have been on oral contraceptives multiple times before. Thanks
These lumps are either simple cysts which are hormone related or Fibroadenomas which are benign breast tumors. Neither is any cause for concern except for the discomfort they cause. They of course can be removed surgically if they become very large or cause a great deal of pain. If they are removed new ones can develop .... Fibrocystic Breast Condition effects nearly half of all women. You might ask if there is anything you can do to lessen the chance of more cysts developing;such as reducing your intake of Caffeine which has been known to help to some degree. A good supportive bra (sport type) can also help with the discomfort.I wouldn't say this condition is "normal" but it is very common. Regards ....
