Side effects of Tamoxipen

by esthercruz, Jul 31, 2009 05:10AM
I am 59 years old and I had my (right breast) mastectomy operation in Nov. 2006 and have been taking Tamoxipen up to now.  What would be the side effects if I would stop taking this medication ?

The drug has side effects but stopping it wouldn't cause you any problem except that it would not be too wise as it definitely has a purpose in preventing recurrance of Hormone positive cancers. At your stated age I'm a bit surprised that you haven't been switched to one of the other Hormone blocker drugs. As a rule Tamoxifen isn't given to women who are post menopausal. Any side effects you have experienced while taking Tamoxifen would no longer be a problem if you discontinue this drug.  Regards ....
