Silly Question??

I went for my yearly mammo on Thursday.  Started the test and the tech says, out of the blue, when was your last mammogram?  I said one year ago, I get one every year.  I mentioned that after one of my mammograms, I was asked to come back for more films.  After I said that, she said, Which breast?  Now I am convinced that she saw something...I said is anything wrong, but of course, she would not commit to anything.  I am so paranoid every year because my Mom and an Aunt both had BC.  My mom is a 30 plus year survivor.... So now I have to go through the weekend before I find anything out.  I guess I'm being a baby and just looking for some comfort!!  Or anyone's view on why the tech asked those questions...thanks everyone!!!

With me, the only value I see to a mammogram would be in picking up a totally new, and different cancer in the left breast, and which i still have. (but that is not relevant to you)

i agree that the technicians are really easy to read, and you can also play them to reveal. Kike, when I had my recent bone scan, I asked the technician several times how it looked and he said 'good' with a clear certainty. Afterwards he let me look at all the films and there was nothing, so I knew.

On the other hand, when I asked the brain MRI guy how it looked three times in all, he would respond by saying that I was doing so good lying still, and that gave him away. Then, when the radiologist burst in, he really blew it, and they were much too nice to me also

But rara 1962 is also totally right in that your technitian would have immediately called the radiologist and been somewhat anxious or visibly not 'normal'. She should have known all this information and it sounds to me that she was using you to fill her in in case she had to talk to the radiologist and maybe she even did/ One did that with me last year, or both times since I always have the diagnostic mammograms since i had cancer a couple of years ag, so she makes me wait and then comes back and then says everything is OK. (which means little to me as the side i am worried about has no breast to image, and even on the other side with my type of cancer, it would not show up anyway. i would know long before a mammogram would, and I have, too)

My point, I do not think what you describe is necessarily a bad sign and she may be new as well? On the other hand, I trust my intuition and You have your own intuition for yourself and we cannot match that.) BEST, KAT

I used to work in Radiology and if the technologist ever saw anything suspicious, she would immediately inform the Radiologist. If he felt more testing was necessary, he would do it then...ie..an ultrasound of the breast.

Try not to worry..I know it's easier said than done...I found a lump this week and am having a mammo on Tuesday.

I hear ya... sometimes, the way that they ask these questions makes me feel like they're testing my mental capability. Anyway, I wouldn't read more into it than it being the usual routine questions that the techs are required to ask. Try to relax and wait for the results. Good luck!
