Sister Diagnosed w/BC now they found something on my mammogram

My sister was dx with Breast Cancer on Feb 3, 2006. My MD sent me for a mammogram, it showed a non-paplable mass deep within the left breast and microcalcifications in the rt breast.  Should I be concerned about the mass?  I am scheduled for a stereotactic biopsy on March 27.  I should mention that the mass does not show on an unltrasound.

I know you are very concerned especially with what is going on with your sister.  Remember that the majority of lumps are not cancer.  My mother and I have both had breast cancer and my daughter has already had 2 biopsys at age 32.  Both lumps were benign for her.  So, you can have a family history and suspicious areas but still not have cancer.  I hope it all goes well for you.

Dear tasha26: When an abnormality is identified on a mammogram, it generally requires further investigation.  Many of these will turn out benign but the only way to know for certain is to do a biopsy.
