Six month follow up after first digital mammogram

Had first digital mammogram, and suggest six month follow up mammogram, is this common?
Had DCIS and lumpectomy with radiation in 1998 and haven't had any problems since.

Dear kemu, Decisions on follow up of a test would be determined based on the findings of the test.  Depending on the findings of the mammogram a 6 month follow-up could be a very appropriate recommendation.
