So confused about daughter's ultrasound result

I posted earlier about my 16-year-old daughter having an ultrasound done on large breast lump.  She had a trauma to the breast 10 months ago, and was also started on Alesse birth control about the same time?  I was asking if any of these could result in this kind of large, very hard, painful, moveable lump.  Well now I am totally confused and not sure what to do.  I got her ultrasound result yesterday and it said normal findings, no cyst or solid lesion present.  Then what is this that we are feeling?  Even my GP is confused.  It is certainly hard as a rock, and a very large lump.  Could a hematoma from her injury produce such a result, or could her birth control just change her breast tissue?  I'm so confused, GP said not to worry about it then, but I don't feel okay about not knowing what it is.  It's almost like they are saying it isn't there!  What could it be if it doesn't show on ultrasound?

Dear saturn99:  This is unlikely to be breast cancer but as it is large and painful, it would be helpful to determine it's source.  There are lots of possible explanations but it is too difficult to speculate.  Our advise would be to make an appointment with a breast specialist.  Most of the time these individuals practice in affiliation with large teaching hospitals.

part of the problem, as I said before, is that imaging techniques really aren't very useful in a 16 year old. So info from an ultrasound adds nothing but confusion, in this context. Sometimes breast tissue is non-uniform; there can be dense tissue in one area of the breast, and not in others. A general term is "mammary dysplasia." In most cases, a lump in a 16 year old is evaluated in one of two ways: follow it for awhile, or do some sort of biopsy. When the latter is chosen, it's usually because the girl or her family feel the need for that level of reassurance. Getting an opinion from a breast surgeon is a good idea; depending on where you live, it's not really usually necessary to go to a teaching hospital to find a surgeon experienced in breast problems.

Thanks for your quick response, I appreciate it very much.  I live in Ontario Canada, in a city that has no breast specialists, our general surgeon do all breast surgeries.  Not sure how much experience they would have in this kind of problem in a girl her age.  I will ask GP to send us to closest major city that has breast specialists. Just for my piece of mind.  Thanks again.

hi , I also have a daughter that is 17 years old and she has found a quite large lump a couple of months ago and we just took her to a breast specialist and she found two more plus 9 other cysts and said she wanted to see her in 3 months to check her again but if any changes to come back right away. Well in less than 1 month all three lumps which are solid grew a whole lot! We went back to the dr. and she sent her to a surgeon and he is going to remove them in the morning. My question is will they  be able to tell if it is cancerous or not right then or will we have to wait. the waiting is the pitts! I didn't want to ask the dr. in front of my daughter because i don't want her to think about what it might or might not be. I have 2 Aunts that has had their breasts removed because of breast cancer.
