Solid lesion

In March 2008 I was diagnosed with Grade 3 Invasive ductal carcinoma with lymphovascular invasion, HER2 positive and lymph node negative.  My latest scans show a 2.1 x 2.6 x .5 cm seroma and a hypoechoic ill-defined region medially measuring 1.2cm in diameter.  This is a solid lesion that may reflect post-surgical scar however a recurrent lesion cannot be excluded.  What does this mean.  I am having a further surgical review rather than a FNA.  What does this mean.  Am I in trouble again?  Rae

I had 3 operations, one a month followed by five months chemo (FEC) and six weeks daily radiation.  I finish 12 months of Herceptin in September. Rae

Well this definitely needs some further investigation .... FNA takes such a small sample that it's not the most reliable method. This may well be scar tissue and further review is needed. I don't think you're necessarily in trouble again but you need to do whatever is recommended to be 100% sure. you don't mention what treatment, if any, you received following your 2008 diagnosis.    Regards ....
