Sore Breast

My 15 year old daughter's left breast is swollen, enlarged and painful.  My doctor seems to not be concerned, but she is often in pain.

Dear gradyiv:  It is not unusual for breasts to be painful, particularly during certain times of the menstrual cycle.  Most breast cancer is not painful.  If the breast is swollen, red and hot to touch, further evaluation would be recommended.  If the pain is severe or you continue to be concerned, you might consider taking her to a medical breast specialist.  These are often affiliated with large academic medical centers.
