Stage 1 at 28 years old - what's my chance of reoccurence

Hi I am 28 years old with stage 1.  I had a 1.4cm , er/pr +, her2/neu - , all other markers came back great.  Grade III,  lymph nodes clear.  I have had a lumpectomy  and will get radiation. I am getting 4 rounds of A/C and then 5 years of tamoxifin (tamoxifen). I know sometimes there is a higher chance of it coming back in my age and I wanted to know what the chance of reoccurence is.  I'm scared it will come back.  Everything I read
says stage 1 has a 95% survival rate - does that still apply to me.

thanks

Dear Camsmomme,

All of these variables have some influence on the degree of risk of recurrence and the decisions regarding treatment.  The treatment you are getting is very appropriate based on the information that is available at this time.   Survival rate information is based on a five year time span, and that statistic does apply to you.  Being 28 years old there is higher risk of cancer recurring or a second primary cancer occurring, mainly because you have more years for that to happen than for example a person who is 60 years old (you have a longer life expectancy!).  Continuing follow-up after the primary treatment of the cancer will be important.
