Stereotactic & Ultrasound biopsy

Hi,
I'm 44.  Last Thursday I had my first abnormal mam ever.  Today I had a diagnos. mam and an ultrasound.  The Radiologist said I needed to have a calcification area biopsied as well as a nodule via Stereotactic & Ultrasound.  I'll have these next Friday.

Is it common to have more than one type of biopsy at a time?  This is all greek to me.  In my gut I believe everything will be benign, but there's a small part that wonders what he saw that has warranted this, but I don't want to be paranoid.

It seems many of you have had the Stereoractic biopsy...were your results benign?

If there  are two areas of suspicion then both should be biopsied. The ultrasound part of the biopsy description isn't another type of biopsy but the guidance system under which the  biopsy will be done. Many biopsies do indeed come back with negative results but there is no way to speculate as to which ones will. You aren't rambling .... you're just wondering. We are all wondering and confused when we are faced with things like this ... it's pretty much a waiting game so don't get too stressed over it and ask whatever concerns you ... the only foolish question is the one that goes unanswered because we didn't ask.     Take care ...

I had both a surgical and a sterotatic biopsy on the same breast and in almost the exact same location; but, within 2 years apart. I don't know if that's common; but, both results came back benign. Best of wishes with your procedure and good luck!
