Stromal fibrosis of the breast

I'm 28 years old. Six months ago, I found a lump in my left breast. I had a core biopsy: stromal fibrosis and focal pseudo-angiomatous hyperplasia. Two months later, 2 new lumps had appeared. Two new biospsies were performed. The first in the initial lump and the same thing was found. In a second lump, there was only stromal fibrosis. So everything is benign. But it still progresses, and now I have three lumps of about 2 cm of diameter each. The question is: what should we do with this? If they want to remove the lumps, they now have to take the whole breast off because I have a small breast and it has progressed a lot. And I don't want that. Can we leave the lumps there even if they progress, because it's benign? Will it stop after all the breast is sick? What causes that, can we do something to stop it? I'm worried...
Thanks!

Well, you're always entitled to a third opinion when the first two do not agree. I'd keep asking no matter how many Dr.s it takes to get an agreement. Congrats on your chosen profession .... it's not an easy road but I'm sure you know that already.    Take care and keep looking !!

Thanks for the answer. The problem is that I discussed with two specialists and they don't have the same opinion at all... The radiologist of the breast clinic, who performed the biopsies and also a MRI told me that she would not remove anything now because it's benign and want to follow me with a MRI in 4-6 months. She does not see an indication for surgery. My surgeon proposed me a surgery. After he had the opinion of the radiologist, he agreed to wait, but told me that if it progresses, he wants to remove my breast (and even talked to me about removing the two breasts!). They have very different opinions!!... It's hard to know in that context what's best.
For the question of my past medical history, there is nothing much to say that could be pertinent. No diagnosis of fibrocystic disease to date. I take Yaz (drosperinone and ethinylestradiol) that the radiologist told me to stop to make a test. My mother had 2 breasts cancer, one in each breast at age 46 and 51 (premenopausal).
Thanks again!
(I'm a medical student!...)

These are questions you should be asking your Breast Specialist or Surgeon. We don't have access to all your medical history which would be necessary to give an opinion on whether to remove these lumps or leave them alone. Has it been recommended that you have the lumps removed or is this just something that you are thinking about ..... it seems that you might be jumping to conclusions unless surgery has been advised. In many cases benign findings are just left alone and I know of nothing that can stop the further progression if you have Fibrocystic Breast Condition which may be the case. I would suggest that you have a detailed discussion with your Dr. who can answer all your concerns.   Regards ....
