Stromal sclerosis (fibrosis)

Hello, just received results from a breast biopsy (needle with ultrasound).  The first tumor was benign and noted as fibroadenomatoid mastopathy.  I was able to look that up and find information.  I cannot find anything (in layman's terms) that explains what the second tumor (also benign) is.  It's listed as stromal sclerosis (fibrosis).  I saw in another post a woman discussed it but her results were a bit different.  Can you tell me what stromal sclerosis is.  And do benign tumors ever turn cancerous?  Thanks so much for your help.  :)

Did you have any history of similar lesion sin the past? Are you taking medication of any kind?

Stromal sclerosis is the changes in the connective tissue which is like a framework on which the breast tissue is laid down upon. A hardening or stiffening of this tissue is described as Stromal sclerosis. As you correctly mentioned it is benign.

Benign tissue rarely turn malignant, but it is better to be safe and therefore you should consult your doctor in case you have any queries regarding the same.

Thanks for the speedy response.  I have no prior history that I'm aware of.  This was my first mammogram because I recently turned 40.   I do have high blood pressure so take Atenolol and Triamterene with HCtz.  Would that effect the breast tissue?  Thanks again I appreciate your help.  Marie

These drugs are most probably not responsible for your condition. However a regular follow up with the breast specialist is advisable.
