Suspicious breast ultrasound

Suspicious breast ultrasound

I had left breast cancer in the form of microcalcifications in 2002.  Now have two masses in right breast, one 4mm and one 5mm, 6mm apart.  One is irregular shape, immediately below skin surface; the one one is round and hypoechoic. It's my understanding that most irregular shapes are cancer?  Having an excisional biopsy in three weeks.  These masses are not seen on a mammogram but are considered suspicious in the ultrasound.  I noticed skin puckering and that is the area where the masses are.  My other invasive cancer was very small, .3cm.  I'm wondering if these masses come back positive for cancer, is it possible to have radiation on the right breast after having it on the left breast, and would chemotherapy be considered because of the additional cancer?  Just trying to be prepared.  Thanks for any info.

Dear anneB551:  A mass seen on ultrasound or mammogram can be more or less suspicious for being cancerous however, until the tissue sample from the biopsy is examined under the microscope can the suspicion be confirmed or not.    If cancer is found in the right breast decisions about treatment will take into account several factors.  It is possible that further radiation may be appropriate, as well as chemotherapy, however, that would be decided based on more information.

Just curious, was radiation the only treatment you had for the cancer the first time? Or did you have tamoxifen or something? Sorry I can not help with other questions.

Hi, my invasive cancer component was very small, .3 cm.  I opted not to take tamoxifen.  I am still premenopausal at 51.
