Swelling

I have a small bump under my left armpit. My arm is swollen down to my fingers. Can you give any advice?

The arm swelling is baffling to me .... one would think this is some type of circulatory problem or some interference with the lymphatic system. I suppose a biopsy could rule out any malignancy and might be a good idea. A Vascular Surgeon might be one place to start for an opinion ... often a General Surgeon will also be listed as a Vascular sugeon as a sub-speciality. I think I would get this opinion before any additional testing to prevent having a test that might not be of much value. Please keep me posted as to what you hear next about this confusing issue.  Best Wishes

Thanks for your reply. No there is no breast cancer or breast surgery, no infection in blood work ups, no other lymph nodes in breasts after doplar and breast scan. Arm is still swollen. What type of doctor do you recommend? So far vascular suggests a biopsy, others have suggested doing an MRA first.

Thank you for your help

The first advice would be to see your Physician and have this checked out. There are several reasons for a lymph node to be swollen ... one being an infection in the body. If your arm is swollen to that extent you need to get some treatment ASAP. You don't state if you have had any type of breast surgery in the past ..... if so this may represent lymphedema. Either way SEE YOUR DR. !!
