Tamoxifen side effects

My wife, 52, last December was surgically treated for a breast cancer of 6 mm without lymph node invasion. Then in February started a normal radiotherapy cycle and on 9th Febraury a therapy with tamoxifen (Novaldex 20)every day. Because she was in a premenopausal period, the value of beta-17-estradiol was checked. It was 186 pg/ml (19/2/02), 480 (4/3/02) and 1314 (12/4/02). An NMR analysis done on 7 May showed a liquid ovarian cyst of 4 cm. From a transvaginal ecography done on 6 February, their ovaries seemed in a perimenopausal situation. Tamoxifen side effects include ovaian cysts.
I am wondering if she should immediately stop Tamoxifen therapy and if aromatase inhibitors are a convenient alternative. Many thanks.

Dear lucio:  Aromatase inhibitors are recommended for post-menopausal women.  Whether or not to continue with tamoxifen should be a discussion weighing the risks versus benefits as they pertain to an individual's situation.  This should be discussed with her doctor or a breast specialist who has access to the specifics of her case.
