Taxotere's effects on mentrual cycle

In June 2001, I was 6 months pregnant, and diagnosed with breast cancer.  My last treatment with Taxotere was 6 weeks ago, and I still have not menstruated.  I am 29 years old and received 4 cycles of AC followed by 4 cycles of Taxotere.  I did menstruate before starting the Taxotere treatments, since I had a 6 week break due to the birth of my daughter.  I was hoping you could give me some sort of time table as to when I should expect to begin menstruating again?  I have been worrying about this for a couple of weeks now, and I would like to know if all of this worrying is truly justified.  Thank you so much for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely Yours,
Pugsly

Dear Pugsly:  Chemotherapy can induce menopause, either temporarily or permanently, depending on the woman (her age and proximity to natural menopause), the drugs and the duration of the drugs.  It is too early to tell what your status is.  If your menstrual cycle does not return in the next 6 months, you might check with your gynecologist, who can check on your hormone levels.
