The waiting is the hardest part!

I've been here before, and Im back again.  No better ladiesto talk to than all of you!  So my story....I posted about two years ago about invisible lumps that didn't show up on mammo or ultrasound.  I was told not to worry, no big deal, you're young - I am now 36.  So I went on my merry way ( please don't yell at me).  Fast forward to about two months ago.  I was taking a shower and I had switched to a hand held soap, instead of a liquid one that requires a "poof".  Well when I was lathering up the girls, I discovered that one of the previous areas in question was now bigger and instead of being one bump was now 4-5 bumps.  So i monitored it through one perios cycle to make sure that it wasn't cystic, but it didn't go away.  Crap.  Next up - call to doc who ordered mammo and ultrasound.  What do you know - nothing showed up on either one!  But this time I asked for a copy of the report and a referal to a surgeon ( older and wiser)!  Report stated dense breast tissue and when I got my letter in the mail it said congratulations your mammo was clear - this made me angry.

So off to see the surgeon i went.  He looked at my mammo and said there was no way of telling if there was anything cancerous under the dense tissue that showed up on the mammo, becuase it looks look the same and it was covering the area in question.  So on Friday I had the questionable area removed.  Now I am waiting for biopsy reults.

I don't really have a question, I just wanted to vent somewhere where people would understand whats going on inside my head.

Take Care Ladies!

I really think you are reading more into this.I don't believe the Surgeon was avoiding to speak to you on purpose...He/she could have been busy at that time. Also the surgeon cannot know for certain, immediately after the procedure,if the tissue extracted is concerning or not.Only a pathologist can determine that, with a 100% accuracy.
When I had my surgery, the Surgeon did not speak to me straight away, but a week or so later, to let me know what the pathologist's results were.
I know, waiting is the worst part, but hang in there and try your best not to let your mind dwell on negative thoughts.Very soon you'll receive your results and hopefully it's going to be alright.
Take care now...

ok, one more question....did you ever have the dr, not come out and talk to you after the surgery?  I ahve had a lot of surgeries...and the dr has talked to me after every one of them!  So when he didn't come to speak to me, and then even when I asked to see him and he didn't come it felt like avoidance.  Of course I am going to read more into this.  But the last time I had a suspicious lump removed the surgeon told me right away that it was nothing to worry about, it was a fatty lipoma and they would send it off to path just to be sure.  So that is the only experience I have to compare this one to.  My mind is just a bit consumed.  I need to just breathe and let it go!!!!!!

It depends on how busy the Institution is,but usually it takes 4 to 7 days for the results to reach your Doctor.
You could call the Radiology Department or your Dr,if after one week you don't receive any news.
Good Luck!!

Hi,
I do remember you, and of course I won't yell at you! LOL.....Quite the contrary,I think you are  very wise to have consulted a breast Surgeon to review your films and proceed with surgery to remove the area of concern.
Yes,the waiting it's the hardest part, but keep in mind that most abnormalities detected in the breasts, are innocuous .
Please come back to us and let us know about your biopsy results when you get them.Hopefully there won't be anything to worry about !
Wishing you all the best :)
