Patient was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and will have radioactive iodine (RAI) treatment. Patient will need surgery to remove lump from breast. What is the minimum amount of time the patient must wait between RAI and breast cancer surgery?

As RTRM321 suggested, these are questions that need to be directed to "the patient's" treatment team (including the surgeon who will be performing the surgery), since they are the ones who have all the details of  her medical hx, current medical status, test results, etc. available to them.

Best wishes...

The patient has had two thyca surgeries: the first was TT and node dissection, the second (six months later) was for a distant metastasis. The patient was unable to have RAI after the first surgery because of pregnancy.

The breast cancer was discovered a few weeks after the second thyca surgery.

That is a good question for the patients surgeon and endocrinologist!  I had breast surgery first (this is 12 years ago) and then my thyroidectomy 2 months later and radiation a few months after that.  I guess the treatment options would be treated in order of priority.  Is the patient already diagnosed with breast cancer as well??
