Too Aggresive(aggressive)?

I'm a 6 year survivor of DCIS w/invasive. Fall of 2000, I was rediagnosed w/same thing in my remaining breast. Due to lack of financial & ins. resources was unable to do anything until April of 2001.
I am currently being treated w/ 80mg of taxotere to shrink the cancer in my remaining breast. I have been told after more surgery, the oncologist wants me treated w/ CMF for 4 to 6 rounds. Can't do CAF because wonderful "big red" damaged my heart.  I am not happy about any of this but would like to know if I couldn't just stay on the taxotere awhile longer?  I want this part of treatment over w/ once and for all. I don't want to die of cancer but I don't want to die from being treatment either. And I know "chemo" can cause secondary cancers.

Dear upset:  From what you are describing, it sounds as though the lump in your breast grew during the time you were unable to address the problem and that the purpose of the taxotere is to shrink this so that it will be easier to obtain clean margins during surgery.  The purpose of the CMF is to treat any remaining microscopic cells.  Since different chemotherapies work differently, the doctors may want to change agents to address cells that the taxotere did not.  You certainly can and should discuss this with your physician so that you can understand his reasoning and make informed choices
