Totuous breast cyst

I am 34 years old and I recently had an ultrasound of my breasts done and the impression of the radiologist was as follows:

-Tortuous cystic collection right breast ? dilated retroareola ducts. (elevated prolactin levels was noted after ultrasound with periods of amenorrhoea)
-Simple cysts noted in left breast.
-Bilatersl axillary nodes noted.

What does this mean? I am a bit concerned seeing that my maternal grandmother died from breast cancer.

I see only cysts mentioned and cysts are benign findings. If there was no recommendation for further investigation such as additional films or a biopsy I see no particular reason for concern. You might ask your prescribing Physician for a complete explanation of the report as he/she has your total Medical History.    Regards ....

Hi, I don't know enough about ultrasound findings to explain your results. I do know that, in spite of their best efforts, medical providers sometimes let things fall through the cracks that shouldn't have. In light of this, I suggest that you DEFINITELY request an explanation of the findings from the radiologist, the actual doctor who interpreted the results. You can call and ask to speak to him/her. Ask for an explanation in layman's terms.

Don't accept anything less than complete understanding of  your findings. Ask what it means going forward. Is there anything you need to keep an eye on? Is there anything  you can do to alter your lifestyle now that aids in reducing your future risk of breast cancer? Educate yourself. Arm yourself with knowledge. I have found, for me, that this reduces the anxiety associated with cancer risk.

You have a right to this information, and you must demand that your providers provide it. The word "doctor" has its roots in the latin word "docere" meaning to teach.
