extensive infiltrative process of solid sheets and single file infiltrates of cells with less than 10% of tumor showing good gland formation. Tumor infiltrates into adjaacent adipose tissue. Nuclei are of intermediate size and somewhat variable in size and mitotic activity is quite low with mitosis difficult to find. Rare scattered mitoses are observed, however. These are less than 2 per 10 high power fields. Significant intraductal component is not identified. Greatest tumor dimension appears to be 1.3 cm. There is some focally elastotic degernative change within the tumor infiltrate. Significant angioinvasion is not identified, and there is only a mild focal chronic inflammatory host response.

We have opted for lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy followed by radiation (provided sentinel node biopsy is clear).

What is prognosis.

Dear gradstudent, More information needs to be obtained before any prognostications can be made (lymph node status, actual tumor size with clear margins).  At this point however with a 1.3cm tumor adjuvant chemotherapy may also be recommended as part of the treatment plan.
