Triple negative treatment

Triple negative treatment

I'm 59, underwent bilateral mastectomy end of November.  No lymph node involvement.  DCIS Stage 1.  I am triple negative, however.  What type of treatments are usually recommended?  I meet with an oncologist next week and am trying to gather as much information as possible in order to understand as well as ask the right questions of her.  Thanks!

Hi,
A triple negative status means that the breast cancer will not respond to hormone therapy targeted to the estrogen, progesterone and HER -2 receptors.
You would be advised chemotherapy and regular follow ups with periodic MRI and other investigations.
Triple negative cancer is responsive to chemotherapy and your doctor will advise you on which medication would be the best in your case.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
