Tubular carcinoma and radiation

I had a tubular carcinoma 1.4 cm removed and they missed some margins, grade 5/9, node negative, ER, PR positive, HER neg.   My surgeon is recommending radiation and I would rather not although I am open to having a resection. Has anyone had tubular and not done radiation? I've found some studies suggesting it is not necessary and some that say it is. Any information would be appreciated

Dear nika_b:  In general, after lumpectomy, radiation therapy is recommended to prevent local recurrence.  In pure tubular cancers (meaning no other cell types in the specimen), some doctors may be willing to forego radiation therapy  in very small tumors (usually less than 1cm) as long as there are "good" margins all around.  However, this is very individual.  You may wish to meet with an oncologist for additional information/recommendation.
