I am 56 yrs old and I had a mammogram in Spetmebet 09 that showed a density in the right breast. There were then several cancallations of appontments and eventually on the 18th March 2010 I had an ultrasound that revealed a palpable mass over the right nipple to be an irregular solid lesion which is highly suspicious of right breast carcinoma U3. The core biopsy results revealed it to be a fibroepithelial lesion B3 with atypical ductal hyperplasia. I had a lumpectomy of a 1.5cm mass yesterday.
My questions are:
1. I have read fibroepithelial lesions are rare post menapausal is this true?
2. Is it possible the biopsy results are wrong and what are the chances it could be cancer?
3. I have been told I will have to wait 4 weeks for the path lab results of the lumpectomy, is this usual and is it OK to leave this for another four weeks.
4. What will my treatment options be if it is a fibroepithelial lesion?
Sorry for all the questions, some answers would be really appreciated as I am worrying how long this has gone on for.
