Underarm not perspiring on one side? Breast cancer?

by contentedsammy, Sep 25, 2006 12:00AM
Hi
I was wondering if this has anything to do with breast cancer ?
I have had a mammogram and an Ultrasound over a month ago and Im not satisfied with the explanation I received so I am waiting for an appointment for a second opinion but my question is:
I have noticed that I do not sweat from my left armpit and this is the same side that they have found the two leasons at the 3 oclock position on the left breast, now the right armpit sweats alot. So I'm wondering if the left armpit not sweating has any relation to the two lesions?
Thanks for your time.

Dear Tammy:  Sweat glands reside deep withing the skin and are most dense in areas like the underarms.  There are two processes that trigger sweating (some glands are triggered by heat and others are triggered by the nervous system).  Breast lesions are unlikely to affect the sweat glands.
