Understanding how estrogen fits into the cancer picture

Can someone share a link to an explanation of how hormones affect breast cancer? I'm new to this and have quite a bit of research already but would love to be more clear about this aspect

Thanks

So sorry about your diagnosis Linda.  Wanted to write as I'm also a Breast Cancer survivor.  15 years.  Did the sentinel node which spares the removal of most Nodes, and helps from getting lymphademia in the future.
What I did want tho to convey on this forum is that there is a procedure called
Mammosite Therapy where its only 10 days or so for Tx, and not time consuming when going thru radiation.  I believe they insert a balloon into the lumpectomy cavity and direct the radiation.  Kinda like using the "Seeds" for prostate cancer.  This would perhaps open the door for you to do other Tx, not related to BC.
Estrogen is actually the food supply that feeds the tumor if you are estrogen positive.  They had me do Tamoxifen for 5 years post lumpectomy.  This blocks all estrogen and in fact cuts off the food source.  They actually test the make-up of your tumor to see what targeted Tx they could do if needed
As you can see I've been out of the loop regarding BC advances.  Must say that I'm so sorry that you've been affected by cancer.  The fact that its treatable and early bodes in your favor.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you thru.  The advances made in the Tx of BC are amazing and not at all like they were 10 years ago.  Another hurdle to get thru but in the end it always works out.
My best to you
......Kim
