Wait six months???

I am 42 and had my second mammogram last week (my first was two years ago, with no irregularities). I received a letter from the health system saying that a finding in my right breast needed to be looked at further, and recommended a follow up in six months to recheck.  Is it wise to wait so long? Should I press for a re-test sooner?  I'm liable to worry myself into an ulcer if I have to wait so long to find out if there is something wrong...

Six months my arse. I have a friend that when a "cyst" was found in his stomach the doctor said let's wait 6 months and then retest. He did, by then the cancer had spread. I'm not saying this is your prognosis, I'm just saying don't wait.

Good luck to you,
Abbey

Dear Llilly:  In the absence of any more explanation, I would want this to be checked now.  If it needs rechecking now - why wait 6 months.  Find out what is going on.
