Dear jilltaylor:   The concern regarding soy products relates to the phytoestrogens that are contained in soy products.  These act like weak estrogens in the body.  There has been some research that shows that phytoestrogens may offer some protection against breast cancer in premenopausal women.  The jury is still out on the effects of soy in post-menopausal women and in women with breast cancer.  Some oncologists will recommend against using soy products in women with estrogen positive cancers.  Because there is no hard evidence proving that these products increase recurrence, some feel comfortable with using these products in moderation.  You should discuss your situation with your oncologist.
