What does this diagnosis mean?

The following is a diagnosis my mother (69-year-old) recently received. Could you help explain exactly what it means and what treatment is called for and what her prognosis is? I realize you can't give me exact answers but any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Dear mikecnm:  This means that your mother has breast cancer.  Because this is needle biopsy, your mother will require additional intervention.  Depending on the size of the tumor - I'm not sure if the dimension on the biopsy is the full extent of the tumor - your mother will need either a lumpectomy + radiation therapy or a mastectomy.  She may even have a choice.  In either case, her lymph nodes should be checked as well.  Beyond this, we do not yet have enough information to comment on prognosis or additional treatment.

It boils down to this: she has breast cancer. The characteristics under the microscope suggest one that is less aggressive than average. At this point, one can't say any more: what's needed is to sample or remove lymph nodes under the arm to check for spread; and to await the results referred to regarding estrogen sensitivity of the tumor. If the nodes were ok, then either she'd have no chemotherapy, or would have hormone treatment, depending on the hormone test. And she'll need treatment of the entire breast to prevent tumor growth in the breast: that would be either removing the breast, or widely removing the tumor (which has just been sampled so far) and treating the remaining breast with radiation.
